How to reach that iconic photo stop to get the best photo of Lake Bled, Slovenia
The viewpoint is called Velika Osojnica and it takes around 20 minutes to walk to the top from the lake. It is not very well signposted unfortunately, so much so that we went the wrong way. To avoid making the same mistake, in brief the directions are as follows:
1. Head along the lakefront on the opposite side to the castle in the direction of Lake Bohinj;
2. Carry on past ‘Rent a Boat’ and then turn left to stay on ‘Kidričeva cesta’;
3. Head straight past ‘Camping Bled’ and at the edge of a clearing on the west side of the road, roughly 100 yards south, you will see a sign for Route 6 Osojnica, Ojstrica;
4. Continue on Route 6 and it will turn into a dirt path;
5. Follow signs for Osojnica until you reach the summit.
